This full-day experience is designed for guests who want greater variety and deeper winery exposure, while still enjoying a relaxed, well-paced day. From historic Würzburg to the vineyards along the Main River, guests explore Franconia’s most iconic wines, wineries, and villages.
The day begins with private pickup in Rothenburg ob der Tauber and a comfortable drive to Würzburg, Franconia’s wine capital. The experience begins with a guided wine and history walk through the Old Town, where the foundations of Franconian viticulture are explained through place, story, and taste. Guests learn about the unique terroir, grape varieties, and centuries-old traditions that have shaped this region.
At the Alte Mainbrücke, guests take part in Würzburg’s most iconic wine ritual: the traditional Brückenschoppen, enjoying a glass of Franconian wine while overlooking the Main River vineyards and Marienberg Fortress. This moment connects local tradition, landscape, and wine culture in a way that cannot be replicated elsewhere.
Depending on guest interest, the experience may include a structured tasting at Juliuspital, one of Franconia’s most historic wineries. Here, guests focus on Silvaner and other regional classics, learning about the winery’s long-standing legacy and winemaking techniques. Overall, the wine served throughout this section highlights Franconian specialties: Silvaner, Müller-Thurgau, and Riesling, presented in a relaxed, story-driven way.
A deliberate lunch break in Würzburg follows (meal not included in price), allowing guests to slow down, recharge, and enjoy Franconian cuisine. Guests may choose from traditional German restaurants in the Old Town or opt for another cuisine such as Italian or Vietnamese (& Sushi); reservations can be arranged upon request. Please let us know if they require Vegetarian dishes. For a lighter stop or additional wine experience, guests may also visit another Wine stop if time still permits.
Guests will then continue on the Franconian Wine Valley Tour
After lunch, guests explore the Franconian wine valley, visiting two charming wine villages. Guests explore a family-run winery, learn about vineyard sites and production styles, and enjoy a guided wine tasting (0.1 l pours per wine).
If desired, guests can also take a short walk through the village streets to soak up the local atmosphere. Additionally, the tour includes a stop at a second nearby wine village, where guests can enjoy another winery visit and brief exploration of the town center.
Please note: winery visits and specific locations may change based on availability.
Included wine: Eight Franconian wines (0.1 l each per person), focusing on Silvaner, Müller-Thurgau, and Riesling, presented in a relaxed, story-driven way.
Scenic drive: Vineyards along the Main River, passing through historic and picturesque landscapes.
Optional Dinner Stop (guest-paid) Can be arranged in Rothenburg or along the return route.
Guests then return to Rothenburg, completing a wine experience that balances history, culture, scenery, and tasting.
Please note that due to timing and reservation availability, the schedule may be adjusted as needed. Guests always have the option to end the tour at any point during the second part of the day if they feel finished.
